Samara Rice

potter, mum, lover of clay

Hi I'm Samara!

I first touched clay at 12 which must have sparked a long-time love, but started off slowly with my pottery journey in 2007 with a couple of evening hand-building courses.

I spent my time working in travel and then running a really busy cafe + catering business but buying a kiln early on when the opportunity arose gave me the tools (and motivation!) to learn + make mistakes at my own pace and time.

Deciding to make 65 slab plates for our wedding was a great challenge - and oddly successful!

My family pitched in and bought me a wheel for a birthday one year, which is the method I use to create most of my pottery today.

Now our small kids are slightly more independent, I love sharing the love of clay and the tips + tricks I've learned on my own journey.

Helping people create pieces they will have forever is such a joy.

I especially love hen's do's and private groups of gals in the studio - so much fun to be had!

My own pottery is very functional based. I love to make tumblers and mugs and useful kitchen items as well as ceramic decors such as colourful life-size balloons and wall hanging 'bags'. My biggest seller is my 'wander cups', a specially designed anti-spill travel coffee cup with no lid. It feels good to help keep waste from landfill : )
